Providing cutting edge legal advice for your mission-critical projects and clear direction in a crisis.
We have been working with charities, not-for-profit organisations and philanthropists for nearly as long as we have existed. We anticipate regulation, manage reputation and provide quick solutions in a crisis. Above all, we are at the heart of many transformational projects involving multi-layered structures, innovative financing initiatives, real estate portfolios, intellectual property rights, employment issues, and safeguarding concerns.
Supporting you with the challenges of the future, today
We go out of our way to understand the challenges you face and anticipate your needs. That way, we can provide tailored advice on the issues that we proactively anticipate arising, to avoid crises. We offer more than just legal advice – our charity clients see us as strategic trusted advisers, assisting with their long-term objectives.
Providing clear direction
Clients value us for providing strong direction when needed, in a clear and practical manner. Our advice is commercial and to the point, it takes into account the wider organisational needs, and assists senior leadership teams in decision-making. We state our opinion on the course of action we believe would be best for you.
At the forefront of the biggest sector developments for more than two decades
We were instructed in the first case on the charities exception in the Equality Act 2010 to reach the Supreme Court. Our instruction on this case demonstrates our reputation for providing cutting edge advice in relation to charity law. We are also the only law firm to have acted as lead advisers in all three Charity Tribunal cases dealing with public benefit in the context of educational charities, benevolent funds and religious charities.
Strong relationship with the Charity Commission and Fundraising Regulator
We regularly work closely with key sector bodies, regulators and legislators. We have worked closely with the Charity Commission on the further development of the Charity Authorised Investment Fund (a major development in charity financing) and with the Fundraising Regulator to update the Code of Fundraising Practice.
Our client base
Our clients include some of the largest and best-known UK and International charities and not-for-profit organisations, grant-making foundations, faith-based organisations, museums and galleries, schools and universities. Our pre-eminent reputation for private client work also means that we advise many prominent philanthropists and the organisations they found and fund. We are able to provide seamless advice across a broad range of practice areas.
Our offices are based in the heart of London, but our outlook, reach and reputation are international.
Let us help with your mission-critical / transformational projects and provide the clear direction you need in a crisis.
