The Queen was patron of 433 charitable organisations at her passing a reflection of the duty and commitment that she embodied throughout her reign. There's no doubt that having her as a patron had a significant and positive impact to both awareness of the charities’ work and the donations that those charities received. The pertinent question of what will happen to the hundreds of charities of which Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was patron is yet to be answered but, in the meantime, it is worth taking the time to consider what it means to have a Royal patron, and examine the pros and cons.
