What do charities need from digital? Join our steering group

13 March 2024

Charity Digital and Dot Project are collaborating to deliver year three of a digital resilience programme funded by Okta for Good.  From March - May 2024 we are conducting a phase of research to evolve the design and delivery approach of the programme.

To guide the development of this programme we propose to set up a multi-stakeholder Steering Group to critique and guide the direction.  Charity Digital will be part of this Steering Group.  We are also seeking representation from a charity, a learning designer/partner and a tech sector/commercial representative and a funder.

The overall goal of a Steering Group is to support the strategic direction of the programme, provide advice and direct inputs on the activities, budget and resources for the programme.

We anticipate engaging with the stakeholder steering group monthly throughout the discovery phase for support with key points of delivery:

      • Initial analysis of discovery findings
      • Critique of programme approach including our approach to impact reporting

We are offering a monthly stipend of £350.00 for a total of 3 months initially for each steering group representative.  We estimate a time commitment of between 4 - 6 hours a month.

We are looking for the following representation on our Steering Group:

Charity representative:

  • To provide insight from the perspective of a charity - guiding us to design a learning approach which considers the needs of charity teams

  • We are looking for a charity representative from a senior leadership team within a charity with experience in designing and delivering a digital strategy.  We are looking for a representative from a charity delivering within the UK with an annual turnover above £750,000.00

  • We would prefer an individual with over 3 years experience working within a charity

Learning designer:

  • To critically assess our proposed programme delivery approach and guide on best practice for testing and designing learning journeys

  • To assess effectiveness in engaging learners / accessibility for diverse audience

  • To ensure clear and measurable learning outcomes in line with the goals of the programme

  • We are particularly interested to engage individuals with experience of designing learning experiences within the social sector

Tech sector/commercial sector:

  • To provide a perspective on the breadth of skills and expertise available within the technology sector and critically assess our mentoring approach

  • We are looking for an individual with experience of working with different types and sizes of organisations, possibly with previous experience as a Chief Technology Officer within a charity, or consultancy experience within the charity sector

Funder:

  • To provide a perspective on the positioning of the programme within the social sector and to guide the development of our impact approach with a particular focus on how to develop meaningful return on investment for funders

  • We are looking for an individual working within a funder organisation which is passionate about building organisational resilience and investing in digital infrastructure within organisations

  • We are interested in individuals with experience of funding longer term capacity building in the social sector

  • We are particularly interested to work with individuals with specific experience in exploring what is necessary to drive and scale digital resilience support across the sector
